Privacy Policy

Last Updated: April 14th, 2024

Welcome to the privacy policy of Analytis Consulting (“Analytis”). This policy outlines how we collect, use, disclose, and manage your personal information when you visit our website (“Site”). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the security of your personal data. By using the Site, you consent to the practices described in this policy. Please read this document carefully to understand our practices regarding your personal information and how we handle it. If you have any questions or concerns about our privacy practices, please contact us using the contact information provided below. If you do not agree with our privacy practices, please refrain from using the Site.

  1. WHAT INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT?
  2. Information Collected Through Comments. When visitors leave comments on the Site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, which typically includes the commenter’s name, email address, and the content of the comment itself. Additionally, we collect the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string. Comment Data helps us understand the context of the comment and facilitates discussions on the Site. We may display your name and the content of your comment publicly, along with your profile picture if you are using a Gravatar service (explained below). We also collect IP Address and Browser User Agent String to help us detect spam and ensure the security of the Site. These identifiers can help us identify automated commenters or potential malicious activity. You are not required to provide any personal information to browse the Site. However, you will need to provide a name and email address to leave a comment. We recommend that you avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) to your comments. This data can be extracted by anyone who downloads the image.
  3. Information automatically collected: We may automatically collect certain information when you visit, use, or navigate the Site. This information does not reveal your specific identity (like your name or contact information) but may include device and usage information, such as your IP address, browser and device characteristics, operating system, language preferences, referring URLs, device name, country, location, information about how and when you use the Site, and other technical information. This information is primarily needed to maintain the security and operation the Site, and for our internal analytics and reporting purposes. The information we collect includes log and usage data, device date, and occasionally location data.

  1. GRAVATAR INTEGRATION AND PROFILE PICTURES

We utilize a service called Gravatar to potentially display your profile picture alongside your comments on the Site. When you leave a comment, an anonymized version of your email address (a hash) is generated. This hash is then sent to the Gravatar service. Gravatar uses the hash to search its database and see if a profile picture is associated with that anonymized email address. If a matching profile picture is found, it will be displayed publicly next to your comment on our Site. Gravatar operates under its own privacy policy, available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. We encourage you to review their policy to understand how your information is handled by Gravatar. You can manage your profile picture and the email address associated with it directly through the Gravatar service. If you do not wish to have a profile picture displayed, you can remove it from your Gravatar account. Once your comment is approved, your profile picture (if retrieved from Gravatar) will be publicly visible alongside your comment on the Site. By leaving a comment and providing your email address, you acknowledge and consent to the creation and transmission of an anonymized hash of your email address to the Gravatar service and the potential retrieval and display of your profile picture by Gravatar on our Site if it’s associated with the provided email address hash. We recommend using a different email address for Gravatar if you wish to maintain privacy for your comments on our Site.

  1. UPLOADING IMAGES AND LOCATION DATA

Our Site may allow you to upload images in certain sections, such as comments or profiles (if applicable). We encourage you to be mindful of the following information regarding image uploads:

  1. Embedded Location Data (EXIF GPS): Digital cameras and some mobile phone cameras often embed location data (EXIF GPS) within the image file itself. This data can reveal the specific location where the picture was taken.
  2. Data Extraction by Visitors: Anyone who downloads an image you upload to our Site may be able to extract this embedded location data. This could potentially compromise your privacy or the privacy of others captured in the image.

Many photo editing tools and software allow you to remove embedded location data (EXIF GPS) from your images before uploading them to our Site. Also consider uploading anonymized images. If location information is not crucial to your image, consider anonymizing it before uploading. This could involve cropping out identifiable landmarks or blurring specific details. We are not responsible for the use or misuse of any location data extracted from images uploaded to our Site.  By uploading an image, you acknowledge and accept the inherent risk of this data being accessible to others who download the image.

  1. DATA RETENTION

We strive to retain your information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected and in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

  1. When you leave a comment on our Site, the comment itself and its associated metadata (such as your name, timestamp, and IP address) are retained indefinitely. This serves two primary purposes – By retaining comments and metadata, we can automatically recognize and approve any follow-up comments you leave on the same thread. We may also retain certain anonymized or aggregated data derived from your information even after the original data is deleted. This anonymized data does not identify you personally and is used for analytical purposes to improve our website and services.
  3. In accordance with applicable data protection laws, you may have the right to request the erasure of your personal information. However, there are some exceptions to this right, and we may not be able to erase your information if it’s necessary for us to comply with legal obligations or maintain legitimate business interests.
